Question about really high notes

Sign in to disble this ad
I just started playing bass guitar and I'm using some cello excercise books to practice. The problem I've run into is that some of the songs require you to play well above A5 (like A6 or so) but there are no harmonic markings. Are these implied harmonics or can a cello actually play A6?

I don't know the actual range of the instrument, but I've heard cellos go pretty high.

From Wiki:

"Zoltán Kodaly's Sonata opus 8 requires a B6 to be played in the concluding measures."
