Question for anyone who used Ed Friedlands bass method

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been teaching myself using Ed friedlands bass method for a little while. I bought the only version available in my local music store and that was the bound 3 book version with no cd. As I have progressed I have realized how much I really could have used that cd, to get the tone and feel and make sure I am actually playing correctly. I almost debate going out and repurchasing it just for the cd. But that would be like paying $30 for the cd alone. Does the cd make that much of a difference in learning the material?? Anyone have any experience with this specific method with or without the cd. Is there anyplace online that I could just strictly purchase the mp3s or a copy of the cd??

Thanks

Why not ask Ed? Here is a member here.

Find his User Name on Page 21 of the listings beginning with E & send a PM asking where to get just a CD.

I've got the version with the CDs. I'm maybe a third of the way through the first volume and I'm not playing with the CD at all. My main problem is that the CD is not convenient to work with. If I start a track, it takes me too long to get back to the bass so that the countoff is through and the music has started (and yes, I know, I'm slow, but that's one thing that makes a beginner a beginner, right?). Also, if I want to repeat a track, I have to fumble with the controls again.

A lot of this could just be my setup. People have told me that there is software for slowing down the tracks but that requires a computer to be nearby. That's not something I can do. So, I have a cheap CD player and I run it through my amplifier.

That said, I want to be able to play along. From my limited exposure playing with others, it really helps me. So, I have a Tascam bass trainer on order. I hope that will make it a lot more convenient to work with tracks.
