So all through I high school I played bass guitar in a local band. We played alot of rock music and mostly covers and though I could jam with the best of them, I never really learned any real music theory or technique. After about three years away from the bass, I've decided that I am going to pick it back up again, but this time I'd really like to be a bit more than just a bass player in a cover band, I want to be a bassist.
So I guess I'm just looking for a bit of direction, I'm already pretty at home on the fretboard and feel like I have the ability to play pretty much any bassline I pick up, its just a matter of learning to be more of a musician rather than just reading from tabs and sheet music.
Oh, and in the end I would really like to be a proficient slap bass player, which is one technique I've never really learned so any assistance as where to start with learning to slap properly would be breatly appreciated
thanks alot,
