Really great bass magazine...

yesterday I picked up BASS guitar magazine (UK) and man it is the best I've ever picked up...Top 40 bass lines ever! and each writer on the magazine picks his top ten...excellent. The instructional section is really excellent, Music/tab of a song I've never heard of Murder on the dancefloor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor...very hard for me and I'm learning a ton with extra info on how the bass line works in the Techniques section...I will say the printing for some of the tab is a wee bit blurred but its great (just need to squint). Interviews with Geddy/Jack Bruce...Q/a with Mr.Berlin/Robbie Shakespeare (written by Mike flynn, one of the first bassists I've ever written to and asked advise)...reviews on pedals...refreshing to see a mag not littered with mainly adverts. Good job BASS GUITAR MAG UK!

I spent a lot of time chasing up my magazines for my 12 month subscription to the UK mag - but agree that the mag is excellent ... but I will be buying from my local newsagent in future.

The USA Bass Player mag subscription service is excellent - so far 100% of my mags have turned up on time in the last 18 months.

The UK Bass Guitar magazine is excellent. It's well worth the $75 or so for a subscription to the States (for me at least).

I picked up a issue a while back, it is a great magazine. Its way too expensive in the states though, IMO I think its much better than Bass Player.

I didnt get last months magazine, some cheeky bass player nabbed it from the newsagents before me. Where the 40 greatest bass lines any good? Where they just a few bars or full transcriptions?

it didn't show you how to play them, just told you the 40 greatest bass lines, and gave some info. The best issue I've got was the first one I ever bought - Charlotte Cooper... yummm!

FYI, from this month it has become a monthly magazine (used to be 6 per year) and the subscription price remains the same .... seems slightly thinner, but still a great read.

I buy it at the newstand. If it costs $75 a year for a subscription, it's just as cheap to buy it at the newstand since it costs $11.50 a copy here in Illinois. Since it is bi-monthly, I think that comes out to $69 a year before taxes.
