Recording Lessons

I've been taking bass lessons for about 2 months and I'm having a really hard time retaining the information taught in the 1/2 hour lesson. I'm wondering if I should ask the instructor if I could record the lessons. Are there any instructors out there who think this is quite acceptable or would I be out of line?

That's a good idea but you should definitely ask the instructor first. I was studying upright with a name jazz bassist and he told me he didn't want me to tape lessons because he didn't want his lessons to somehow end up on internet. Fair enough, he said take all the notes you want just don't record the lesson. I'm sure different teachers have different takes on this.
