Question The Reel Book

I am going on two months of being new. Learning quite well actually, coming from guitar. I have Bass Method, Bass Aerobics and Bass Tab White Pages. My question is about The Real Book, Bass Clef edition. Should I get this one as well and how will it benefit me compared to the others mentioned? I ask because I keep hearing things about it. Just don't want to waste money on silly things I don't need. Thanks.

I have the real book bass edition, and its definitely not a waste of money. It is something you will use throughout your entire journey with the bass guitar, and is a phenomenal learning/practice tool.

Well, it's a great book if you want to play along with a lot of jazz standards. It has more than 300 songs in it, but it's more of chord chart so you can follow the changes and come up with your own stuff.

I have it because it seemed the thing to do. I'm still working with (trying to get) Autumn Leaves. http://www.amazon.com/Real-Book-Bass...ews/0634060767

There is enough information in this book to keep you busy for years. If you are into jazz it is a need to have book, however, if you are still working on the fundamentals, you could put off purchasing it for awhile.

Have fun.

Thanks for the replies. I am not into jazz and I am still working on the fundamentals, so I will put it off for now. Maybe in 6 months or so when I am a lot more proficient.
