Hi Can you guys recomend some resources for learning bass guitar, I want to teach myself as I cant afford lessons I played guitar for about 25 years so I know a bit about music.

I have been teaching myself bass for the last month but now I want to start learning the instrument properly.

thanks for your help.

I know you said you can't afford regular lessons, but can you swing a couple? I think it's really important to at least be sure you have yourself "set-up" properly. Have someone check your hand positions, show you a little technique, stuff like that.

After that, go ahead and get the Hal Leonard book that was edited by Ed Friedland:

Can't go wrong with this book. It's what I use with my beginning students.

I burned a mess of them onto dvd to use when not at my `puter. This fellow is a saint,NiceCupofTea,he posts tons of lessons, blogs, etc. on tb,youtube and his own sites for other bassplayers to use gratis. He`s great!
