Cool, downloading now. I'll give them a try when I have a moment to myself.

EDIT: By the way kiwi, that theory link on your webpage should link to theory.htm while I remember it.

Playing with a metronome is good, but it's great to be able to relax and play with drum beats.

Check out Jamstix. It has a realtime audio jam that I love using because it follows what I'm playing. I can also mix in keywords to change the style of drumbeats. It's very dynamic. Check it out!

Thanks for the clips. I use a Bass RC-20XL as my looper where I usually use my bass to create some drum-like sounds to jam over. Then maybe add a bassline and solo over it. Great little tool that thing is.

I'm gonna hook it up to my PC so I can record these drumlines into a loop and jam along with em. Thanks a lot.

The Jamstrix looks pretty good.

I put these drum rhythms together using Beta Monkey drum loops. They have a wide range of styles and tempo.

I'm gonna post more up in different styles soon.

Yeah, Beta Monkey drum loops are great.

Drum loops are one thing, but when making a song I prefer sequencing the drums myself. I have more control over the BPM and beats that way. Jamstix is a great in-between solution. Its drum sounds are great and the oodles of drum patterns and styles that are included are fantastic, and it's simple to make your own beats with it too. If you don't like their beat creator, you can just use MIDI.

I just can't get over the whole "drummer brain" and "drummer habits" they have worked into Jamstix. You just have to try out the demo.

You could check out iDrum but I'm not sure how similar it is to Jamstix. If you go to the Jamstix forums they have a poll asking people if they desire Mac support. Go register and vote yes.

I was just thinking.

You could use a virtual drummer to design and model your loops and drum tracks, then use the Beta Monkey Groove Construction Kit for the finished product.

Here's a quote from the Beta Monkey's website

Quote:
Beta Monkey Music Groove Construction Kits: Acoustic Drum and Cymbal Samples CD

With five fully-sampled studio drum kits kits and nearly 900 (595 MB) individual drum and cymbal hits, Beta Monkey’s Groove Construction Kits is a comprehensive collection of acoustic drum and cymbal samples created with some of the most-known and sought-after drum sets and cymbal lines. The recorded drum sets include drums from DW™, Pearl™, Tama™, and Yamaha™ with cymbals from Sabian™ and Zildjan™. You will find kick samples, snare samples, HH samples, and cymbal samples from some of the best known instruments available.

OK, Jamstix seems almost too good to be true. What do I need to hook my bass up to my computer to use it????
