Rhythm Section Book?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking for a Rhythm Section book with Bass and Drum music, so me and the drummer can practice together. So he can get better at reading drum music, and we can get solid grooves together. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I've been programming my drum machine with grooves from The Drummer's Bible: How to Play Every Drum Style from Afro-Cuban to Zydeco - by Mick Berry, Jason Gianni.

Goldmine of ideas.

I second the Funkmasters book.
Another good one written specifically for bass & drums-
Funkifying The Clave for Bass & Drums by Ammeen & Goines.

Work through both of those books & you should see a marked improvement in your playing.

"Rhythm Section Drumming"

Great book with studies and grooves fully written out for both bass and drums, and CDs for both bass and drum students. Pieces go from basic to really challenging, and it's a great library of patterns for both instruments.

I program the Hydrogen drum program with the patterns and make them into songs to play with.

I definitely second this book. I have just started working through it myself. Should give you both plenty to chew on whether you are just getting started or seasoned pros.
