Have any of you guys tried these DVD's yet? If so, did they work? are they worth it? Any comments would be appreciated.

One of 'em came with my SX bass pack. It covered the very, very, very basic aspect of where do I put my fingers and how do I play the thing.

If they're all like the one I got, well, they would get you started, but you'd have a lot more information in a good book. Might be worth it if you're really visual and can't learn anything from a book.

they don't really teach you much more than if you went to a lesson and asked a few questions of a teacher?

the metal bass one I had was just using pedal notes, hammer on and pull offs, what the role of a bass player is and using fingers or pick,...

the doug whimbish one is interesting cos he teaches you alot of 'different' outside the square sorts of ways to play your bass,... still wasn't as in depth as I thought it would be / would like it to be
