He just has to wait until Xmas. Also i already forsee his 2 older brothers picking up the guitar in the coming months. Maybe if they release the bass dlc i can convince them to pick up a bass and try it out.

Heck... couldn't wait for Christmas, stopped at a Walmart today, my son wanted to check out some new releases for video games while there. He did, I did... it's when I spotted the last copy of Rocksmith on the shelf... had to do it! My son is 10, has been playing guitar for a solid year now... once he loaded the game on X-Box, the live sound of a stadium sized performance echoing... his Fender Mustang in hand, his eyes got really wide!!!! I like this Dad! HOOKED!!!! Myself... well, a Bass option would be nice.. soon perhaps???
As for the game... I see much potential, pretty cool actually! |

It will be something my daughter and I can play with on cold snowy saturdays. It is a game. Nothing more, for me...
I may try plugging a processor in, just to satisfy my own curiosity about whether or not it will work with effects. I just want to know if it will work with a 5 string on solo... or if it will work with a 12 string

During game set-up, you select your guitar headstock type... either 6 (string) in line headstock, or 6 (string) 3 + 3 headstock.... Thats about it! |

| | | | So anyway I keep playing this and it strikes me as a brilliant tool to make practicing more fun.....have pretty much been playing this one to two hours a night since I got it.....seems to me this is the way to go if one wants to get his/her foot in the door of guitar playing.....of course it doesn't teach you everything but I think for the beginner it would make those tough first stages easier....and as someone who has played guitar for quite a while I am finding it a real solidifier of the basic patterns of rock music.....and if you've got the basic patterns of rock music under your fingers and you are getting more and more fluent because you are playing for longer periods of time this is going to translate into being better in your playing in general.....ymmv......but I think if a person has an xbox or a ps3 and it seems like every one does (except for me until 4 days ago!) then this thing to me is a no brainer......you just have to try it out, get it set up properly so there is minimal latency....and of course it is always good to come at things with an open mind...and realize it has its limitations....but my guess is that you will love this thing....I know I am loving it.....and I think it will be similarly cool when they release the bass version of this....

| | | | I have played for about six hours so far. Last night I reached Level 3, "Local Support Act"! The most recent song I've leveled on is "Where is My Mind" by The Pixies. |

I'm sure that you would have to make concessions for technique and tuning, but I'm thinking it could be playable. |

I think is pretty neat

You would think it would be slightly easier to program than a guitar. Less strings and you can move chords seamlessly anywhere on the fretboard. What would make it difficult to include a bass option.

Doesn't really teach theory, but does give you a good technique workout and is smart enough to guide you through exercises that work your weak spots.
Biggest thing is that it keeps the fun from the fake guitar games while training your hands to do the right thing. This was the first practice time in ages that I hit the "my fingers hurt" point before the "I'm bored" stage.
