Roger waters bass playing style

Ever since I started playing bass I have always wondered what type of style Roger waters played in. In what ways did he devise his basslines? Did he use scales? I ponder these questions and I can never get a clear cut answer to any of them on the internet

He played bass like a guy who write music - not all that well. As others will chime in and tell you, Gilmour did a fair amount of recording on bass for the band - Bass playing just wasn't Roger's thing (compared to songwriting, at least).
