It basically lays out several different scale patterns.
The diagrams are simple diagrams of your fretboard and the root note position in each pattern is shown. Start with the major minor pattern on the first page which also shows the fretboard layout.
Just play around with it and you should get the jist of it.
The tab sheets that he posted there are helpful too if you want to tab out some of your own scales and practice patterns.
