SCOTTS BASS LESSONS - SOLOING ON STATIC DOMINANTS

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys I finally got some tutorials recorded covering some of the options you have when soloing over static dominant chords. I've covered some of the techniques i use when improvising over static dominant chords, but as always there's many different options available. What you should take into consideration though is that each different harmonic technique that you can use should be practiced for at least a month or two before moving on to another one. It takes time to get these things happening in your playing naturally, so be patient.

Here's the link... http://scottsbasslessons.com/video-t...minant-chords/

Take it easy,

Scott.

Question

Lesson 1 was great already. I'll be kept busy for a while. Your playing is awesome when you demonstrate the techniques. I hope to one day be able to improv/pull out some smooth funky sh*t like that.
Thanks again for these tuttorials. Just curious how successful you are with Skype lessons? Im thinking of taking lessons from someone local @twice a month but I dont want to leave the house, ever due to my extreme laziness. Just wondering how well Skype works for a music lesson.

Hey Monroe55 thanks for the compliment! Glad your enjoying the lessons too.

As far as Skype lessons are concerned they're amazing. It's really changed music education on a one to one basis because now you don't have to be taught by someone who's local. Now i'm not saying that the local guys aren't great, it really depends on where you are based. If you take me for example... I grew up in a town in the middle of know where that had very little music education going on and not one bass teacher! If i was doing it all again, providing i had a suitable internet connection i could get lessons with someone like Janek Gwizdala instead of my dads mate a work who played a little guitar and charged a packet of 20 cigarettes per lesson, lol! Now you can choose from some great players and educators. As far as the experience of a skype lesson... it's pretty much like a normal one to one lesson as long as you've got good internet speed.

Skype is king! Yesterday i was chatting to a friend on Skype using the video link... I was sat at home in the UK, he was in Chicago on a tour bus using their wireless connection!

Easy,

Scott.

really liked the lesson and the straight forward explanations and actually getting to hear the concept improvised against the chord. Great playing and teaching.
