I had been playing music for almost 15 years before I began to understand the concept that he demonstrated in that video. It was a realization that completely transformed how I think about music and even how I think about life.
I'm going to try to find some more videos from Benjamin and show them to others.

But I`m still trying to find a "logical thread" and the whole meaning in his speech, but that`s solely my problem, I hope I`ll understand it later . Btw, can someone explaing the practical side of this one-buttock playing concept and the accents thing. Does all that part was about being emotional and playing like there is no tommorow?
Feeling dumb,

Here's something I heard recently on my local NPR station that might be of interest. I can't seem to link directly to the archived broadcast, but the link below will get you to the archives page--search by the date:

What Makes it Great with Rob Kapilow©
Composer, conductor, and pianist Rob Kapilow joins Steve Kraske to discuss his latest book All You Have to do is Listen: Music From the Inside Out. They examined how to find the underlying story behind any song, and how a careful listening to music can increase appreciation of a particular piece. http://www.kcur.org/UTDarchive.html |
