I thought it might be fun to share some basslines that you've written for your original bands or songs.
Post tab, mp3s, what have you
Here's a song I wrote for my band:
G
D-----------6------------6-6--------------6----------6-6
A-0-0----0-----0-0---0------7-7--0-0---0----0-0---0-----7-7
E--------------------------------------------------------------7---
G
D-----------6------------6-6--------------
A-0-0----0-----0-0---0------7-7-- ----4-4
E---------------------------------7-7-
It's a 3/4, 4/4, 3/4, 5/4, 3/4, 6/4 pattern with a few variations.
You can hear it here: www.myspace.com/tomcatcombat
The song is called Ponies on Ice
Let's see and hear your basslines!

Not that that's bad, it just that there are lots of "listen to my band" links, hopefully this one can share specifics about the bass parts you use.

|--2--2------------------1-------6-----
|----------------4--4--2-----------4-2-
Tabs suck giving the correct rhythm.

Your band is very good -- you gents ever get as far south as New England?
Here's one I call "Circumcision" (without instrument in hand, so I make no warranty of accuracy):
16 16 16 8 16
G----------------------
D----------------------
A--0--0---1---2--2----
E----------------------
(same rhythm)
G--2--2---3--4--4-----
D----------------------
A----------------------
E----------------------
Rinse and repeat.

G-12-12-----16----16--12-12~~-9-----7------------------
D-10-10-----14----14--10-10~~-7----------------------
A-12-12--12----12-----12-12~~-8---5--------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------
and for my prog trio
T--e-s-s-s-s-s---e-s-[1/8trip ]
G----------7------------------------------
D------7h9--9-5----------------------------
A---------------------[7-9-7]-------------------
E--5-5------------7-7-------------------------
T---se-e--g-e-e-s--e-s--g-e-e-e
G---------------7----------7-6------------
D------------7-----------------4--------
E---55-5- (5)--5----5-5-(5)-------------------
A---------------------------------
that should do it, i tried to make the rhythms as clear as possible but thats hard with tab, the chords can be played with any rhythm
e=eighth note s= sixteenth g=ghost note 1/8trip= eighth note triplet T=time

I think it works well to play the song via tab or whatever, then hear the original bassist playing it. I like getting a feel for what other people are doing.
Thanks kgoism, barbarbass; we'll be on tour this summer but we probably won't get south of the border this time around, someday hopefully!
