Singing/Ear Training

I was a completely horrible singer about a year ago. I couldnt match a pitch to save my life.

I then got into guitar, then moved to bass, picked up a teacher, sang every damn chance I got at work, and now I can match pitches, sometimes!

It takes me a while to find it, but I get there.. sometimes. Im starting to doubt if ill ever be able to sing well enough in a band.

Would ear training help? Ive never had any ear training or interval training, so im wondering if that may help, or any other advice you guys have; Im heading toward a Grateful Dead cover band, I want to sing!!!

practice your scales and chords with your voice the same way you practice with your bass

I would have to say yes, ear training will help with your singing and your playing for the better. Everyone has a voice it just having the courage to use it. It may not be the voice you want, but a coach will let you make the best of what you have.
Once you have confidence in your voice that's one less thing to worry about, so the playing will become easier and that has to be for the better. Seems like a win win situation to me.
