Slap and Volume Decrease

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I am new to the forum/bass world. I am a guitar player of several years and recently got a used ibanez SRex3qm1 4 string at the local GC. It has active pickups which are stock ibanez pickups. I don't know the proper technique of slapping...but I would like to know why my pickups volume drop when I slap. It is noticeable and the subsequent "pop" or pluck is at a lower volume. The volume goes back to normal after the initial slap.

This may be normal. I'm not sure, I thought someone here could help me.

Second, my E string rumbles (buzzes) a lot. I wonder if it is because of my technique or because of my setup. Is it common for this string to want to "clack" against the frets? Thanks a lot guys!

I appreciate any answers you can give me.

Frets SHOULD hit the frets when you slap but only right ON the slap, there should be no buzzing after.

Are you using any effects in your setup? Usually when you slap you use more force for the strings than when plucking so volume should go up. At least, that's what happens when I try to slap.
