Slow down software for MAC

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been doing a lot of transcribing lately and I've been feeling like I'd like to try some of that slowing down the songs with out changing the pitch for some of the faster runs. I did a search and found people recommend this software called BestPractice, but I can only find it for PC. I only have a Mac. Does anyone know about any free software for Mac?

Also, if you think I'm a wuss for wanting to use the software in the first place, maybe you can give me some tips for doing it the old fashioned way. I'm pretty good with figuring out most stuff but when it starts to get really fast I have trouble.

Transcribe!
http://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/screenshots.html

Transcribe! is great stuff. Not only can it slow the music down but you
can highlight a section of music and it will perform a frequency analysis
and tell you what notes are there. Furthermore, you can add notation
(like notes, chords, etc.) at points in the tune with a text area it provides.

I've transcribed a number of tunes (mostly blues) with this. It is the
best tool I have seen. Transcribing is still work but this makes it about
as easy as it gets.

If you get it, PM me and I'll send an example project that I did.

Garage band does it, and is standard on most macs.

1. Drag your audio file (MP3, M4A, ...) in GarageBand. It's shown as an orange track.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+G
3. Click the audio track. It is now blue.
4. Check "Follow Tempo & Pitch" (this is in the wave editor section, which you get by clicking the scissors symbol next to the eye)
5. Now change the tempo (next to the song time display)

I copied that form another forum, but it is seriously that simple. I use it to slow down an out of town band's tracks to learn the songs before we practice.

This would be my advice to use as well. I love it and it's free.
