Question "Soloing the PUPs"

Sign in to disble this ad
Quick question folks,

When someone refers to "soloing the PUPs", do they mean playing with the right hand over a particular PUP, or electronically switching one off and playing in your normal right hand position? Thanks.

Mike

yep, you got it right the second time - "soloing a pick-up" means to play with only one of them cranked and the other(s) completely off. a lot of bassists like to solo their back or bridge-placed pups, particularly for slapping.

Are they really that many, as in "a lot"? The only one I can think of right now is Mark King, maybe Jonas Hellborg. Most slapping I've heard is done with 50/50 blend, or at least close to it.
