| The best advice on soloing I ever got was; have an idea and stick to it. You can take a simple phrase play then play a rhythmic or melodic variation, play the same idea in a different register, in a different place in the measure. I really love hearing soloists that get as much mileage as possible out of a simple idea. There is so much great music to made out of simple ideas. |
