Some help with this Jeff Berlin song please!

In Jeff Berlin's version of Tears In Heaven there's the above bit of tablature. Now normally I assume that the h and p letters are for hammer-ons and pull offs, but I also thought that if this were the case, you'd have to play it as a plucked/picked 18th and then a hammer-on on the 19th fret.

Any ideas? There's no legend or explaining notes...

What does it sound like when he does it in the song? Tinker with it until it sounds like that.

Play the C# at the 18th fret. Hammer on the D at the 19th fret and then pull off to return to the C# at the 18th fret.

I tried seeing what he did but the camera was too far away.
