Sort of new. What songs should I know?
I played in a band in the 90's. it was an all originals band and coming up with bass lines for those originals didn't leave allot of time for learning songs. Around 2000 I was in car accident and my hand got messed up so it hurt to play. At one point I sold off all my gear. Last December I started playing again and learned some songs. Now I wanna jam with people but I have no idea what songs I should learn. What are some popular songs that bands cover? Looking for those must know classics. Thanks guys.

Jamming is mostly just following the chord changes with your favorite bass line. Root on 1 and 3 seems to always work.
Now what is jammed around your neck of the woods, I have no idea, here it's mostly Country which is I-IV-V7-I or rock which is I-vi-IV-V7-I.
Watch the 6 string rhythm guy's hands and change chords when he does. You may miss what chord, but, your ear will start zeroing in and if you get really lost, a vamp of I-V7-I or the tonic pentatonic scale to the beat will get you by until your ear comes back.
