An other exercise I'm doing is running 2 scales in parallel separated by a certain interval 2nd Major, 3rd Major etc ... you need to play them at least for 2 octaves. It's nice to develop some finger indenpency and to train your ear a bit on intervals...
Enjoy, Paolo |

When you play it, , your hand looks like a spider crawling on the neck. This is just the first 6 positions. The pattern is the same for the rest of the neck.

Basically you select a scale (say C) and an interval (say 3rd Major). Then you start with the root (C) then the root + selcted interval (E) and then with the example selected you'd go D and F... you play say in 8th notes ... here an example that I wrote very very quickly now... so I hope to not have done mistakes !
Enjoy

thanks man | I've got the first one from a fellow TBer that published in the technique section some time back. For the last one I posted, this was the result of some class taken combined with a bit of my imagination, that's really it. But if you look at www.activebass.com you might find soem useful lessons as well.

The rule that applies to that sheet is the constance of the scale interval (e.g. in the example is the III of the scale).
Of course that can be played also with fixed intervals.
