Stuck (writing a solo)

Sign in to disble this ad
Well basically thats it, i decided to start writing a bass-drum solo. I'm already about 1:50 in the solo and well I've hit a point where I'm stuck. I want the next line to be fast passed and/or fairly complex, kinda like a fill or something that would really lead to one. Problem is I can't, I thought of a good riff but it isn't really a nice little fill and it won't lead to one either. Hmmm I just can't think of a good riff that would sound right when going out of the last one I just did. Any tips on this and maybe getting riffs to sync in and fit better?

Maybe just get the shape of the line, the target tones on what beats down on paper as a skeleton. Then go back and start expanding. Knowing the note your targeting should help you decide how you want to get there.

Put up a midi/sheet music so we can read it.

...I just sensed I'm one of the few people who can read sheet music for Bass on this side.

It might help if you tell us what sort of genre the solo will be.

Download Noteworthy Composer or Finale Notepad.

My advice would be d/l Guitar Pro and save it as a MIDI file if it still lets you.

can't download guitar pro any more.

But basically all I need are some tips, it comes out from a 16th note rush on the 3rd fret a string.

Should I use scales, arpeggios, modes?
