suggestions for bass heavy acoustic blues for transcribing

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

Can you please suggest some bass heavy acoustic blues albums/artists that i can use for transcribing..

I am having great fun working with Muddy waters' Folk Singer album..I am looking for something similar..

basically looking for something that's simple, the notes are well laid out, simple solo stuff, and not too complicated like say SRV kinda chops..

any help would be appreciated...

Keb' Mo' comes to mind. He plays acoustic blues guitar solo and with a full band. As for specific songs, here's a quick list of the full band numbers with the album title and song title:

Keep It Simple - Keep It Simple
Keep It Simple - Prosperity Blues
Keep It Simple - France
Just Like You - Standin' At The Station
Slow Down - Muddy Water
Slow Down - Soon As I Get Paid
Slow Down - Everything I Need
Slow Down - A Letter To Tracy

There are also the full band blues songs with him playing electric guitar. Plus, it's fun to improvise and make up your own bass lines for playing along to his solo acoustic songs such as:

Keb' Mo' - Am I Wrong
Keb' Mo' - Kindhearted Woman Blues
Just Like You - Perpetual Blues Machine
Just Like You - You Can Love Yourself

Have fun!

Check out more of the old Chess Records artists like Muddy Waters was part of. Robert Johnson his music is a major influence on Stones, Clapton, and many others.
