The NOTE and the finger position are not the same thing. Until you get that, you can't understand any of the points more experienced musicians are making. And you won't understand why I'm not contradicting myself in the slightest but making a distinction you'd benefit from knowing.
I'm sorry if this sounds condescending, because it's not meant that way. But the main prerequisite of learning something is knowing that you don't know something. And this is something you don't know. You can take the opportunity to learn or you can continue as you are. Your choice.
