Take Me Home Country Roads (Toots version)

Really quick question for anyone who knows the Toots & Maytals version.

Key is Ab: 2nd line of Chorus (To the PLACE I BELONG)

On 'Place', is he playing F (over Fm) before switching to Db on 'Belong', or just sticking with Db for the whole line?

Original John D song has 2 chords/chord change in the line, but I'm struggling to get F to sound right: Db sounds much better over the whole line, but I don't think it's correct.

I know that would make the song a I, IV, V, VI in Ab, for what that's worth!!

Driving me nuts this- thanks!!

Just listened on youtube (wasn't familiar with this version at all) and it does NOT go to the Fm chord ... stay on the Db. The F, if you play it, IS part of the Db major chord and should work, too, but I agree, doesn't sound "right".

Thank you very much, Denny: I really appreciate you going to the trouble of doing that.

No trouble at all. I wanted to hear that version anyway. Never imagined JD could be done as reggae!

Some might even say it has the edge on the original, too....
