Here's a thread in the spirit of the MLB playoffs.
I'm playing with a jazz group inside the 1st base gate of Citizen's Bank Park for tonight's Phillies/Cardinals game. We're playing some original jazz tunes, but we also play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and because it's a transient crowd, we tend to play it many times over the course of the evening.
To have a little fun tonight and keep it interesting, I decided to reharmonize some of the changes.
The original changes are something like this:
Code:
Bb | | F | |
Bb | | F | |
G7 | | C- | |
C7 | | F7 | |
Bb | | F | |
Bb |Bb7 | Eb | |
Eb |Ebo7 |Bb/F | G7 |
C7 | F7 | Bb | |
Here's what I have come up with so far.
Code:
BbMaj9 | | F | |
BbMaj9 | | F E7#11 | Eb7#11 D7#9 |
G-11 | BbMaj9 | Ab7#11 | G7 |
C7 | Gb7 | F7 | Bb7#11 |
BbMaj9 | | F7(b9,b13 )| F7 |
Bb | Bb7 | Eb | Cm7 |
Eb | Ebo7 | Bb/F Ab7#11| G7 |
Gb7 | F7 | Bb DbMaj7 | C7 B13#11 |
As you can see, I've mostly used tritone substitutions. Anyone have any other suggestions or interesting ideas?
