Possibly looking for a teacher in Central Illinois. Let me know if you or anyone you know is available.

(I looked through the instructor list but there were a ton of people but mainly around Chi-town)

Thanks,
Jeff

Not sure how far you're willing to travel. But give Linda's Music in Decatur, Il. a call...217-428-1409. Hugh Reeves, the manager, is one of the best bassists' around. He, not only can play, but he "knows" music, too. I'm not sure if he gives lessons, though. If he don't they have many Millikin University students work there, giving lessons. BTW, Millikin is one of the finest music and arts colleges in Il., so any student/instructor they have will be top notch.

PoweSlave...

I wish I had time to commit to teaching regularly... Another option, although farther away, might be Lane Baldwin. He's based in Danville, so it's a bit of a drive on 74. He used to work for Eden in A/R, etc. but now he's working with Rick Turner (formerly of Alembic), and Roy Vogt's promotion.

Hey, did you buy a Hartke 3500 in Bloomburg around 1996 or so? I sold one to a guy with the same name as the gentleman in your avatar, and was curious if it was you.

John

Thanks for the responses.

I'll call down to Decatur but I think Danville may be a tad too far of a drive

John, it was someone different. I was living in New Orleans at that time

Bass playing is a hobby for me but I'd like to be halfway decent and actually learn music. The biggest challenge is finding a good teacher that not only knows their stuff but actually knows how to teach also.
