Yes, there is an instructor search function here at Talkbass. Click the Members List link near the top of the screen. Next click the Search Members link, then the Advanced Search link.

On the screen that comes up, change the Available for Instruction dropdown to the state / province (search is US & Canada only) you want to search for instructors. Then click the Search Now button and wait for the results to come back.

I would be very careful looking for a teacher here at TB merely by searching people's profiles for those that list themselves as "available for teaching". I've noticed that there are lots of cats here that say they're available to teach but by reading their posts they are obviously nowhere near qualified to do so.

A better idea would be to start a thread with a title like "Looking for Rochester NY Area Electric Bass Teacher", with a description of what you feel you're lacking from your current teacher and what your goals are as a player. I'll bet there are more than a few cats here that can help you out with some solid recommendations.
