yes as you might find yourself doing some solos during some worship breaks, however you most likely will never hear a groove that's that fast. It's just to "fusion" sounding.
Now this isn't to say that you can't have a "fusion" vibe, but that segment that you pointed out would not fit in ANY church service, concert, or program I've Ever been to or played at in my life.
Now when Bubby come in at 3:37 you get more of a worship style type of thing you would find yourself in.

Because I would think "BASS SESSIONZ VOL. 1" would tell me what I'm getting into.
That's like complaining HOME DEPOT isn't a real estate agent. |

Maybe it's because I was hoping for it to be a "Gospel" Bass players DVD kind of how the drummer DVD's were. Most of us (that being gospel bassist) DO have a VERY high appreciation for Janek and Haddrien, but with that being said we want to hear and learn from Gospel Bass players. I think it's more of a context thing and application vs. the players themselves.
Heck I know for SURE that Janek would absolutely destroy me in Fusion, but that's no my interest and seeing how it seems like 80% of the DVD is Gospel music, the connection is very weak for me. If they sounded more "Gospel" I wouldn't have any gripes.
Heck as far as I know the DVD could be the most absolute best thing that's ever hit, but from talking to others most people have the same concerns about the dvd.

Not having seen the DVD itself, it's possible that there is a lot of good gospel stuff in there, but I sure don't get that impression from the YouTube video.
In fairness to the question, I don't "eat, breathe and live" gospel music but I do have a fairly decent background in it, and that DVD clip is not what I'm accustomed to hearing in a gospel setting ....... |

Does Gospel Music have a form, more than a purpose?

The people inspired to do something new probably don't need a gospel instructional CD.

The company who produced the video is GospelChops, hence the GospelChops presents, but it's still titled "Bass Sesionz" and the description itself will tell you what you can expect.
It's no more or less gospel than the gospelchops drumsticks they sell.

I mean in the past GospelChops bass clips have mainly been gospel players showing things they utilize in a worship setting (Dale Black, CJ, Justin). If cats were real with themselves, no offense to the players, but you would never have related Hadrien and Janek to gospel. I can bring up all the various threads asking about who to listen to for that "gospel" feel, licks, etc., and you wont find their names. IMO strictly for marketing purposes.
