Timing problem during long breaks of silence

Im tryin to play audioslave's be yourself and at the beginning when theres no drums, i find it hard to nail the notes at the right time. Especially the part when the drum first kicks in..tips?

Be sure about the tempo when the song starts and count or tap your foot. I don't know that song but this usually helps in similar situations.

The above answers are right on... keep practicing with a metronome, tapping your foot, and everything it takes, to strengthen that internal clock

A technique taught to help stabilize slower tempos may help you our here. Often times we think quarter notes(1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4) when we are keeping time. Sometimes thinking in smaller time intervals can really help(1and2and3and4, or 1 eanda 2 eanda 3eanda...etc). If the distance between the beats in your head is shorter you will be less likely to be inaccurate...And as always, spend at least 75% of your practice time with a metronome!
