Tone and Equalization.

Just curious to see how most of you set your EQs. I know this varies greatly from amp, to cab, to bass, etc. But it's just a general question.

I tend to keep the bass flat, low mids and mids cranked, and the highs turned down. This gives me a growly, punchy tone when coupled with a tube preamp or a little overdrive, and I love it.

What about you? What do you do?

Fingers and basses provide my tone. I only alter the amp's EQ if the room I'm playing in is trapping certain frequencies or accentuating others.

I have a Carvin B5 going into a chain of effects into a Hartke 3500. The graphic eq on the amp is basically a wave pattern favoring the lows and mids. On the bass there is a three band eq highs just bellow flat lows and mids boosted a little pickups in passive mode. The active mode seems too sensitive. I have been struggling with my tone for the last year or so I don't consider myself an expert by any means but this is working for me now.
