Too many strings ringing

When I play on the E string the A string rings and when I play on the A both E and G ring. It really sound like crap and I can't stop it. Any help?

You need to learn to mute. When you play on the E string you can collapse your fretting hand a bit to touch the higher strings, and when you play on the higher strings you can touch the lower ones with your picking hand thumb.
