Well I can play a few easy songs, cause of tabs. Im looking for a good bass teacher in my area. I have yet to find one. Im trying to figure out the whole "note" thing. Coming from drums I never had to learn notes etc. I get that it goes from A-G then repeats. I dont get how. LOL!
I have looked at diagrams and everything else and it looks like Japanese to me. I cant make heads or tails out of it. Its very discouraging and makes me feel stupid sitting here and typing this out. I can be the only one who didnt get it can I? I have been working the fretboard with my left hand and thats coming along nicely. I already have calluses on my fingers. Im TRYING here!

I dont know what else to say or ask here. I feel dumb right now.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Here you go brother. Learn where they are so you can do it with your eyes closed.

Scales will come later.

No problem. A good way to do it is to start by playing every E on the fretboard, then every F, then every F#, and so on.

Please note that the picture I put up only goes to the 12th fret . . . which if you are a newbie, you shouldn't be any higher than that anyway!!!

HI I'm a total noob too, picked up Bass just a couple months ago and also looking for a teacher. Check this out: http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord...-note-printer/

Play around with this for a few minutes and get your printer ready. You can print out all the notes on the fretboard, change the number of strings and tunings. Also you can print out scales and chords. Check out the rest of the site too, some really good stuff in there for us newbies.

All good advice. We used to use Mel Bay's Bass book #1 by Roger Filiberto. Still works.
