Can anybody direct me to a song or example of music where I might better understand what is meant by triplet feel?

YouTube - Jeff Beck - Brush with the blues

Was listening to this when I read your post

Triplet feel usually means playing 1-2-3 without emphasizing the 2.

But it should work in 4/4 time right?

Yes, you basically change the tempo a bit so that you can fit three notes in the space of two.

So instead of 4/4 being 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &, you get 1 & a 2 & a, etc. Three notes per beat instead of two. Some prefer calling it 12/8 instead of 4/4 triplet feel, but it's basically the same.

Fine example. NOT the RHCP version, the original. That whole song is 123 123 123 123....

This. I prefer to think trip-l-et instead of 1 & a because I learned "e" and "a" is a subdivision (usually 1/16)

Listen to the kick drum and overall pulse of hip hop - - then listen for a triplet with the middle beat missing...

Context is important when looking for triplet examples.

In western popular music the typical appearance of triplet feel is in the 12/8 shuffle blues feel. example: YouTube - "Backing/Jam Track #1 Blues Shuffle in A7 144 BPM"
You can count the 1,2,3,4 following the kick and snare
the hi hat and embellishments outline the "1-&-a 2 -&-a 3 -&-a 4-&-a"
at the turn around in this example the snare actually hits all 12 8th notes

It's a very close cousin or twin of Jazz swing feel YouTube - Drum Lesson, Basic Jazz Shuffle
