tuning cgcf

ok i'm new to down tuning my favorite bassist is emma anzai from the sick puppies she tunes cgcf. here's the stupid question when tunning cgcf on a korg chromatic tuner do you calibrate to 475 for cgcf?? this is what I heard just wondering if anyone can help me with this or do you calibrate to regular 440?? please no sarcasim i'm new to this.

Your A note will still be the same 440Hz so that's what you want to use. The calibration determines the pitch of A note and I've never seen a tuner that lets you go under 435Hz or over 445Hz since that wouldn't be A note anymore.

If you ever need anything other than 440Hz (most of us don't) you'll probably know that without asking.

the tuner i have is a korg black hand held chromatic tuner ca-30 you can go as far as 480hz and as low as 410hz I just looked at it. thank you for the reply and help though.

I have a Korg too - it has a "flat" button with 5 settings - push the flat button twice (you will see 2 flat symbols appear in the top left corner) - tune the A D G strings normally (they will be tuned G C F when flatted twice). Push it 2 more so 4 flat symbols appear - tune E normal (it will now be C when flatted 4 times). Very simple.

Actually you can leave it flatted twice for E too, but you will tune it to D rather than E, and it will turn out C

i believe kaseyreever71 is describing the korg CA-30... which doesn't have the flat button. the GA-30 does (looks identical, except it's silver while the CA-30 is black).

in any case, leave the calibration at 440! changing it can be useful when playing along with a piano or in an early music ensemble of some sort, but it isn't standard practice in rock music. just tune it C-G-C-F, leave the calib. button alone.

Yep, leave it at 440 and tune to CGCF. If you have a chromatic tuner it will show the names of the notes. Should be no problem at all.
