I suspect I'm not the first to notice this, but for those of you who practice this exercise, either chromatically (1234, 1243, 1324 etc) or with arpeggios (1357, 1375, 1537 etc), all you really need to do are the first 6 patterns starting with 1, and repeat each pattern in a continuous loop several times and you'll hit all the patterns, sort of like how each mode is built from a single scale.

I've found this to make this exercise a much less tedious way to increase finger strength, agility endurance etc:

123412341234123412341234...

124312431243124312431243...

132413241324132413241324...

134213421342134213421342...

142314231423142314231423..

143214321432143214321432...

... and here is the same pattern for arpeggios (I just did "find and replace" in a text file):

135713571357135713571357...

137513751375137513751375...

153715371537153715371537...

157315731573157315731573...

173517351735173517351735..

175317531753175317531753...

That's cool

Also I think it's good to add in whatever notes go below or above the octave that you're in (usually giving six notes total) because it's a good way of practicing approaching the root from above and below.
