meters cover band/that unison run on "people say" by the meters

Sign in to disble this ad
in the middle of the song somewhere there is this cool unison run with the bass & guitar & for some reason i'm having a bit of a problem with it. can anyone help me with what's being played there?

I checked for tabs/music & found out exactly what I assumed I would find - the posted tabs are completely inaccurate.

anyone?

EDIT - includes question about meters cover band down the thread

Okay, first time I ever tab something.

It goes:

G:----|----5---7-5--------------------|-------------------------
D:5-6-|7-7---7-----7-6-5---3h4-------|--------3----------------
A:----|------------------5-----5------|----3-----5-3------------
E:----|---------------------------3-4-|5-5---5-------5-3-1/10---

Hope you can read that.

I edited it so it would be easier to read. Otherwise the added txt should be very easy.

awesome. thanks so much..i'll check it out.

It's amazing how inaccurate the transcriptions of music on the net are. I was looking thourgh a bunch of meters stuff & even the simplest of lines are wrong. I sure hope these people are not playing them out !

The Tricky Part of gettting that part right is the the missing beat off the beginng of the main lick when it comes back in.A 3/4 bar. Make sure your drummer hears that!

Also the guitar's intro is slightly different than his main lick, He's got double stops,a desending bass note thing, subtle but personally I love them and encurage guitar players to learn/play that intro.

Good Luck

I've actually been thinking about trying to start a Meters tribute band, but I'm unsure if the general public cares/knows about them.

I'm also not sure if people want to go out & see 4 pasty-white Canadians play New Orleans Funk

Thoughts?

You're right. Listening to it again, it sounds like he slides from the f to the g and then plays the d on the 5th fret on the a-string. I had heard it as a slide all the way up.

As for working out fast lines, I usually listen to a few notes, maybe 4 or 5, and then sing them slowly, and play each note after I sing it.

Ever heard The New Mastersounds?
A definite Meters' vibe done in a modern way.
...there's some youtube footage of them, too.
