Upside Down World - Need Help From The Lefties

Well I've been trying to play bass right handed...my left hand isn't going where I need it to go, I've looked at videos and tried to imitate various techniques.

I flipped my bass over and tried it left handed (when I was younger I threw and batted both handed...I still bowl both handed). It was a bit more comfortable, my right hand stretches easier, picking isn't a problem.

My question to the lefties:
Do you play with the E string on the bottom(string closest to the floor) or on the top(like it is on a right handed bass)?

My P-Bass flipped looks funky but plays fine. The Ibanez might be weird. This wouldn't be the first time I started doing something right handed and had to switch...maybe this is why I sucked at regular guitar...lol.

Learn to play with the E string on top. At least it's the mirror image of righty; but, purchase yourself a left handed bass as soon as you can. Check the lefty bass FAQ in my signature, at the bottom of this post for places to shop and manufacturers that recognize us.

In Montana they have signs over bars that say,"Before engaging your mouth, make sure your mind is in gear!"

Avid...thank you!
The mirror thing makes sense, I had to do the same when I had a ceramics classs in college...took us forever to figure out why I couldn't throw, turns out I was mirroring the teacher...the wheel was going the right direction for a rightie, we started it the other way and voila! I threw a pot.

I'll go and plink around on some basses this week and see what happens...I think this is what has been giving me brain farts. Hell, at least I can read music now.
