Are there any possible suggestions of what i can do for learning how to play.... u guys probably get this alot but in order for me to get a band together i need the help. anything you can re direct me to or tell me, it would be seriously cool.

You wanna play Metal? Listen to a lot of Metal and play what you hear. Just takes time like any style of music.

You're going to want to have at least some basic understanding of music theory and composition. Especially if you want to break out and not just play root notes all night.
Listening to others play and such is an OK way to learn some covers. I wouldn't give it much merit beyond that though myself.
If I were in your shoes, I would find a teacher. They don't necessarily have to be a metal head to help you expand your playing and ability in metal either.
I don't know what all you listen to, buy expand yourself outside of just listening to metal too. You can pick up a lot of things from basically every genre and use it in your own style and music. Just because that's a slap riff doesn't mean you can't use it in your break down. Just because there's some chords being played on bass doesn't mean you can use it as an interlude or interesting fill.

Like I said in your other thread... Seattle right now is rough. Though, looking on craigslist here you're going to see a lot of bands looking for a bassist. There's a lot of generic crap out there that I would personally not play with, but it might be your thing.

metal has evolved into one of the most difficult types of music to play. for that reason, i suggest taking lessons from a really good jazz player who will teach you reading music and theory. nothing will prepare you for difficult music like a jazz background. a lot of metal players study jazz as much as they study metal.

This is what I've decided that I need to do. I just started doing this last week.

Learn to play music on your chosen instrument - then you will be able to play what you choose.

I see this as being very like learning a language. Nobody really learns a language by saying something like, "I want to talk about cuisine in Russian". They learn to speak Russian, and then have conversations about cuisine or any other topic they choose.

+1 to that. Jazz is especially relevant for more recent Metal. Progressive, Technical, Mathcore craziness. I wouldn't say the same if you're only wanting an old school Thrash sound though.
