Using other scales

i am getting a little bored with just jamming around in Maj and minor scales and am looking for some other ideas;

whats your favourite scale to jam in?

mine is hungarian gypsy scale: 1,2,b3,#4,5,b6,7

Get to know these scales

Modes of the Major Scale

1 Ionian (Major Scale)

2 Dorian (Minor Scale with a raised 6th)

3 Phyrgian (Minor scale with a b2)

4 Lydian (Major Scale with a #4)

5 Mixolydian (Major scale with a b7)

6 Aeolian (Minor scale)

7 Locrian (Everything is flat except the 4)

Modes of the MM

1 Melodic Minor
2 Dorian b2
3 Lydian Augmented (Lydian with a #5)
4 Lydian Dominant( Lydian witha b7)
5 Mixolydian b6 (Hindu Scale)
6 Aeolian b5 ,or Locrian #2
7 Altered, everything is flat

Harmonic Minor and it's modes too.

That should keep you busy.
