Using a Tonal key centre when soloing over Autumn Leaves - Demo by Scott Devine

Hey guys, this is a clip from one of my correspondence lessons. I was demonstrating using a tonal key centre (Bb) throughout the whole tune but adding in altered dominants and chromatics to spice things up. The tune I'm playing over is Autumn Leaves. Any questions gimme a shout.

You can use these types of techniques all over the place... the gag is hitting the right chord tones at the right time. If you don't do that it just sounds like your running up and down scales. 'All the things you are' is another great one to try this out on, but, the key centres do change so watch out

Easy,

Scott.
