I found this very interesting video on the Korg website that has Victor Wooten demonstrating practice tips with a metronome. http://www.korg.com/ProSessionDetails.aspx?ID=647
I never realized how much you can work on with just a simple click track! |

edit - that "put the click on a 16th other than the downbeat" is HARD. At least it is for me. Definitely something to work on.

Secondly - I've done variations of moving the click by 16th notes before and got my head around it. BUT. That thing he did where he subdivided it into 5 and then played in 4 so the metronome shifts. That's totally insane. I can't even begin to get my head around THAT.
That guy is an utter genius. One of the best bass players out there. One of the best teachers too. Fantastic.
Thanks again for the link. IT's bookmarked. |

Humility is the biggest key to learning- you can't get better if you know everything already- which is why Victor's going to keep getting even better. |

What he plays doesn't really resonate with me in the musical sense, but his talent on the instrument is undeniable and inspirational...it's Wooten 'the man' that impresses me the most. There just doesn't seem to be even a hint of diva in him even though he has to know that the vast majority of the bass playing world is just gaga over what he can do.

I would love to hear what Jeff Berlin has to say about this video. |
