Walking Bass Lesson - How to walk around '2 chords per bar' - with Scott Devine

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys someone asked me earlier this week about constructing walking bass lines when you've got two chords per bar. So..... here's a tutorial on it!

YouTube - ‪Walking Bass Lesson - How to walk 'two chords per bar' - with Scott Devine‬‏

There will also be a tutorial in the next few days covering how to walk on static minor chords.

And another thing... if you go to my website Free Online Bass Lessons - Scott's Bass Lessons there's a chance to get a exclusive video lesson from me covering 'How to approach practicing'. All the details are on the website.

Hope your all well!

Scott.

That was a great discussion/ lesson on practicing. Very inspiring. Once again, I really appreciate all this info you're giving away. Thanks Scott and keep 'em coming.

Scott! U are awesome! The greatest irony of talkbass is that if all the folks who spend hours debating strings, pickups, string tension, amp + cab pairings etc... Spent half of that time improving their musical knowledge and technique...everyone one would be asking them what kind of strings they used, amp they played thru etc...everytime they played! The better you get, the more people want to ask you about your gear at gigs...I say the better you get, the better your gear sounds. Thanks for keeping the focus on 'the real' gear enhancer...skillful knowledge and technique applied.

faulknersj... Hey man thanks for checking my tutorials out! Your right man, to many people spend too much time looking at gear. But... I do too sometimes lol! I go through stages... Mainly with basses and circuits vs passive etc.

But in my defense I've used the same amp for the last 6 years and I have NO idea what strings I use... never mind what gauge lol!

Hey check out the forum tonight coz i'm going to be posting up a great tutorial on 'good and bad phrasing - what it is and how to practice it'.

easy man,

Scott.

I think you should do a whole series, with some PDFs, for basic jazz play. You already have it well under way. I'd be glad to pay.

I'm glad I found your videos. Nice, approachable, practical.

Sorry for the silly question, but what's with the glove? To cut down finger noise? Does it get in the way?

I forgot exactly, but it is to help with some sort of medical condition I believe.

Scott,
I enjoyed your tutorials. I've seen at least 5 of them over the past month or so, and I like the way you break the concepts down into easily understandable pieces. Keep up the good work.

I'll be making a donation to support your ongoing efforts in supplying quality bass tutorials.

Hey guys thanks again for all the kind words!

SBassman... When you say "basic jazz play" do you mean stuff like... how to get started with jazz? For example, playing in a two feel, playing a four in a bar feel, bossa's, sambas, tumbao's etc and there application?

Lemme know.

Easy,

Scott.

Yes. Basically, some of what you already covered for jazz in your existing videos. And maybe just Finishing the basics, and adding some exercises and play alongs.

Great stuff.

Scott, your lessons are always so damn awesome. Really, you have some of the best videos I've seen, and I think everyone who watches them appreciates the time you've spent creating and uploading them.

Thank you for this lesson as well as all the others.
