Walking Practice Tracks

can anyone post some links (preferably downloadable) to blues or jazz songs that don't have basslines so i can practice my walking? I seriously need help so i anyone has anything for me i'd really appreciate it.

P.S. - please don't give me some song that goes at like 20,000bpm ; ; i need to practice walking not setting my bass on fire.

Google Band in a Box, from PG music. It's the ultimate practice tool.

I just got a copy of Band in a Box and I'm very impressed. It's pretty intuitive to use as I had a chord progression and a style laid out within 10 minutes of when I first opened it.

+100 Band in a Box

Aebersold recordings (Bass is in left channel, just pan to right).

I use band in a box a lot, but I like the aebersold recordings since the musicians are real.

Here are some Band in a Box files:

http://www.wesleydick.com/zips/RealBook.zip
http://www.wesleydick.com/Songlist.html
http://www.midistudio.com/BIAB/List.htm
http://www.xs4all.nl/~garritsa/

Finally, play along with your favorite mp3s and record yourself, mix yourself in with them to see how you sound I use Audacity for this (free).

1) Import the mp3
2) EQ the track to cut the bass down
3) play along / record.
4) play it back with both your bass track and the mp3 (or just your bass track - great for checking your timing / phrasing).

This is the only free solution that I can think of right now.

+10 It's pricey, but allows you to enter the chords and then specify the style, pace and even other instruments. The only downside is that it IS and sounds like "computer" music.

Wow. Just downloaded the Band in a Box demo.
Incredibly cool tool. Makes it much more interesting and solid to walk over changes (fired it up for Real Book tunes).
This is a great find.
Thanks!
