Warmups?

i read somewhere that practicing bass is just like exercise meaning you go to stretch and warm the muscles on your fingers but the problem is sometimes i just practice 5-10 mins a day or really excited to try something that sometimes it is annoying to do...

Maybe also because the only warmup i know is the 1-2-3-4 pattern
can some good folks share warmup routines and do you think i should do it everytime i practice even on very short ones...

I usually run through scales up and down the neck. I do that for a good half hour. I then go through the modes for about 15 minutes.

If you only play for that short amount of time them a few good stretches is good to go.
Spread your fingers as far and as wide as you can, hold for 5 secs, relax for 5 secs, then close them in to the palm, flex the wrist in to to ward the forearm as far as you can go comfortable and hold for 5 secs, and then relax.
Give your fore arms a good rub( as that is where you should feel the tightness, then repeat again no more than 5 times. This exercise should be over in a few mins. Do it a few times when you finish as a warm down.

For more varied exercises search for hand and arm stretches in a good search engine, you will find lots of options and compare the results of the best ones.

So true, so stop it now.LOL
But seriously jury is out on its exact benefits/ dangers, but over time if constant and regular it can cause problems.

Warmups?
I play ballads a lot of the time. Musical. Requires focus. Not finger-busters. Tunes up and warms up the ears too. Also, never had CTS or ANY physical problems so far, so it seems to warm me up nicely without incurring any damage. And isn't that what a warmup is supposed to do?
