I'm trying to make an obnoxious ringtone out of this silly song, but I can't for the life of me figure out the bass notes, the chords are Bb minor-ish but when I add a bass line in Bb minor,
the effect isn't the same as in the original. I know this isn't supposed to be "conventional" harmonly, which is why I'm having such a tough time figuring it out. If someone's bored, please have a listen and tell me the bass notes. Thanks so much in advance. O_o http://popesofny.googlepages.com/001PokeysTheme.mp3
Wait, I think the bass part is in E. Am I right?
I think I am right, the chords also appear to have an E in them.

And here you can hear the resulting MIDI file: http://media.putfile.com/Pokey
The pitch bending in measure 6 wasn't recorded. Hope this helps. |

Looks like the bass line is Db-based after all, I tried it once and it didn't sound right to me so I ended up moving it to E which sounded okay to me (I guess the fact that most chords have an E in them has to do with this)
I'm still working on my personal version, by the way, I'm going to incoporate your bass line fixes and will post the results.
It's weird that your proggy didn't include the pitch bendings in the midi, it works fine in Guitar Pro. |

Well, Finale can actually play the pitch bendings but I had to use a different symbol for that, and I prefer the one I used, which has no effect. |

I thinned the chords out a bit, I don't really like the way they sound with the added G#, also my old phone can only handle a couple of voices. |

I've actually played a lot of basslines from that game and the original Mother a lot for fun. And the New Age Retro Hippie fight song has been my phone's ringtone more than once
