Question Well I managed to learn a tune by ear...

only to find out later my ears honed in on the overtones and thus I transcribed it a perfect forth higher than the recording. I got most of the ontervals right though so I'm not complaining. Is this a common thing to happen during transcriptions? The song is "Embryo" by Pink Floyd, and knowing that the two most likely keys would be E minor or A minor, I started plunking around in Am and the rest is history.

I tried transcribing by ear a week ago. In the span of about 2 hours, I got all of 6 notes written down. I came back to it the next day and it all sounded wrong. I think you did pretty well. =/
